Whanganui River Adventures is a locally Maori owned family business based in Pipiriki. Journey into the heart of the Whanganui river - combining jet boating with the stories, culture, history and people of the Whanganui awa.
Whanganui River Adventures is a locally owned and operated Maori tourism and Adventure business based in the river village of Pipiriki on the Whanganui River. We provide scenic and historic boat and canoe tours up the Whanganui river, sharing ancestral stories and local history.

Terms & Conditions, Risk Disclosure & Booking Policy
1. Acceptance of Terms
By making a booking with Whanganui River Adventures, participating in any activity or signing this declaration, you acknowledge that you have read, understood and agree to these terms and conditions.
2. Risk Acknowledgement
Whanganui River Adventures provides outdoor adventure experiences that involve inherent risks. While every reasonable precaution is taken to ensure your safety, participation may involve risks that cannot be completely eliminated.
These risks may include, but not limited to:
Personal injury or death
Slips, trips and falls
Drowning or immersion in water
Changing river and weather conditions
Equipment failure despite regular maintenance
Collision with natural obstacles or other vessels
Delays caused by weather or river conditions
Emotional distress arising from an incident
Damage to or loss of personal property
By participating, you voluntarily accept these risks.
3. Health Declaration
Participants confirm that they:
Are physically fit to participate.
Do not suffer from any medical condition that may be aggravated by the activity.
Will advise Whanganui River Adventures of any medical condition, injury, allergy or disability that may affect their participation.
The operator reserves the right to refuse participation where safety may be compromised.
4. Participant Responsibilities
Participants agree to:
Follow all instructions given by guides and staff.
Wear all safety equipment as instructed.
Behave responsibly throughout the activity.
Ensure any children in their care also follow instructions.
Refrain from behaviour that places themselves or others at risk.
Failure to comply may result in removal from the activity without refund.
5. Safety Management
Whanganui River Adventures maintains comprehensive safety management systems and all staff are trained to appropriate industry standards.
While every effort is made to minimise hazards, not all risks can be eliminated due to the natural environment.
Participants acknowledge that:
Outdoor adventure activities involve unavoidable risks.
River levels and weather conditions can change rapidly.
Guides may alter, shorten or cancel trips in the interests of safety.
6. Operator Rights
Whanganui River Adventures reserves the right to:
Cancel or postpone any trip due to:
Unsafe river conditions
Severe weather
Mechanical issues
Minimum participant numbers not being met
Staff illness
Any unforeseen circumstance affecting safety
Where Whanganui River Adventures cancels a trip, customers will be offered either:
An alternative date; or
A full refund of monies paid
No further compensation will be payable.
7. Customer Cancellations
More than 24 hours before departure
Bookings cancelled at least 24 hours before departure will receive a full refund or may transfer to another available date.
Within 24 hours
Cancellations, amendments or no-shows within 24 hours of departure may incur a cancellation fee of up to 100% of the booking value.
Failure to arrive at the departure location on time may be treated as a no-show.
8. Weather Policy
Trips operate in most weather conditions.
However, Whanganui River Adventures may cancel activities where river conditions or weather create an unacceptable safety risk.
If Whanganui River Adventures cancels a trip due to unsafe conditions, customers will receive:
A refund; or
The option to reschedule.
9. Equipment
All equipment supplied by Whanganui River Adventures is regularly inspected and maintained.
Participants agree to:
Use equipment responsibly.
Report any damage immediately.
Return all equipment issued.
Participants may be responsible for repair or replacement costs where equipment is deliberately damaged or lost through negligence.
10. Personal Property
Participants are responsible for their own personal belongings.
Whanganui River Adventures accepts no responsibility for loss of or damage to:
Cameras
Phones
Clothing
Jewellery
Electronic equipment
Other personal possessions
Even where waterproof containers are provided.
11. Medical Treatment
If required, participants authorise Whanganui River Adventures to arrange emergency medical treatment.
Participants remain responsible for any medical or rescue costs not covered by New Zealand’s Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) or their own insurance.
12. Photography & Media
During activities, photographs and video may be taken.
Unless participants advise otherwise before departure, Whanganui River Adventures may use these images for:
Promotional material
Social media
Website content
Advertising
No payment is payable for such use.
13. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by New Zealand law, Whanganui River Adventures shall not be liable for:
Personal injury except where liability cannot legally be excluded;
Loss or damage to personal property;
Delays, cancellations or itinerary changes caused by weather, river conditions or events beyond our reasonable control;
Indirect or consequential losses.
Nothing in the these terms limits any rights available under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or Fair Trading Act 1986 where applicable.
14. Indemnity
Participants agree not to make claims against Whanganui River Adventures, its owners, employees or contractors for losses arising from the inherent risks of participation, except where liability cannot legally be excluded.
15. Children
Participants under 18 years of age must have these terms accepted by a parent or legal guardian.
Children must remain under the supervision of their responsible adult unless otherwise directed by staff.
16. Changes to Activities
For operational or safety reasons, Whanganui River Adventures may:
Change departure times;
Alter routes or itineraries;
Substitute equipment;
Modify activity duration.
These changes do not automatically entitle participants to a refund.
17. Governing Law
These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of New Zealand.
Any disputes arising from these terms shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
